James C. Heap

Heap, James C. age 78, much loved husband, father, grand- father and great-grand- father, passed away suddenly, on Monday, December 23, 2013. A long- time Florida resident, Jim and his wife Dorothy were in Minnesota to spend Christmas with their family. Jim's family includes wife Dorothy, daughter Patricia White, daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Greg Wahl, daughter and son-in-law Maureen and Greg Clark; grandchildren Katie Wahl Connaker and husband Chris, Ryan Heap and wife Natalie, Toby White, David Potratz, Nick Wahl and Christina Steelman; great-grandchildren Kaley, Noah, Mattea, Shirley and Sophia; sister and brother-in-law Karen and Howard Kimbrough; niece and nephew Kelly Chandler and Philip Heap. He will be missed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents Clinton Heap and Elizabeth Heap, brother Richard Heap and mother-in-law and father-in-law Bill and Virginia Gonyea. Jim's Christian faith, love of family and country lives on in his entire family. His wisdom and guidance will be missed. He was a respected and loved role model for the entire family as well as the many other lives he touched. Mr. Heap was born in New York City on February 17, 1935. He attended Notre Dame, graduated from Providence College and attended graduate school at Boston University and the University of Minnesota. He came to Minnesota with the Pillsbury Company, founded his own business, helped establish the professional sales and retail merchandising programs at Hennepin Technical Center and enjoyed non-profit work as well. He was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 1978 and served for six terms. Representative Heap's legislative districts included parts of Robbinsdale, Golden Valley and Plymouth. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 9100 93rd Ave. N., Brooklyn Park, on Monday, December 30, at 11 AM, with visitation beginning at 10:30.
