James John Higgins

Higgins, James John Loved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully on the 14th of November, 2009. Jim was born July 20, 1923 to Agnes (Prastil) and Austin Higgins in Madison, WI. He was preceded in death by parents; and sister, Doris Mirabella. Survived by his wife, Helen (Brendler) of 58 years; his children, Ann (Randall Russell Last), Mary (Brian) MacDonnell and John Austin; 5 grandchildren; brother, William; brother in law, John Mirabella; and nieces and nephews. Jim attended University of Wisconsin, served in World War II in Patton's 3rd Army, 80th Division. He started an insurance agency in Rhinelander WI; was instrumental in organizing the United Way in Rhinelander in 1976. Jim was a 4th Degree Member of The Knights of Columbus. Mass of Christian Burial 11:30 AM, Friday, Nov. 20 with visitation one hour prior at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Minneapolis, MN Interment Ft. Snelling.
