James Huite Hitt

Funeral services for U.S. Army retired Sgt. 1st Class James Huit Hitt age 86, of Killeen, will be held at 11 am Saturday Immanuel Lutheran Church in Killeen with the Rev. Pastor Ray Zischang officiating . Burial with military honors will follow at Killeen City Cemetery.

Hitt died on Aug 5, 2014 in Killeen. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was born February 12, 1928 in Newsome Texas. In 1966 he retired from the U.S. Army with 20 years of service during which he was awarded the European Victory Medal; Occupation Ribbon; National Defense Service Medal; Commendation with two Oak Leaf Clusters. After his military service, Hitt worked for Civil Service in Fort Hood Texas, from 1966-1988 followed by a six year employment with Electrolux.

Survivors include his wife Maria C. Hitt of Killeen; one daughter, Dolores C. McCullough of Irving; One son, Randy H. Hitt of Round Rock; three grandchildren Shannon C. Barker of Irving; Ryan J. McCullough of Irving; Travis J. Hitt of Round Rock; a brother in law, Heinz Juelke of Germany; Great Grandchildren, William Neal Barker of Dallas; Sophia Allison Hitt of Round Rock; also two expected great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, William J. Hitt and Two brothers Cecil and Fred Hitt and Dalton Hitt.

The family will receive visitors form 6p-8p on Friday at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
