James Homant Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 16, 2025.
James Joseph Homant, son of Louis and Yvonne (Seguin) Homant, beloved husband of 70 years to Frances (Laundry), children Danielle (Bjorn Nelisse), Amy (Alfred Gelinas), Doug, Sam (Melissa), James, Judy (Marc Richonne), and his grandchildren Amanda, Sarah, Jacob, Meagan, Mary, Jason, Joseph, Hillary, Emily, and his great grandchildren Jack, Alexander, Sienna and Logan. He now joins in heaven his daughter Cheryl, and his grandchildren Joshua, Luke, Sean, Zachary, and Lily

Jim proudly served in the Korean War finishing as an Air Force Staff Sergeant. After his service he became a Pattern Maker, working in both the automotive and aircraft industries in Michigan and California. Jim was an avid reader, he loved bowling and golfing, and he loved to travel; he made it to all fifty states along with many European countries.

Jim took the time to share his creative talents with his children; he taught woodworking skills using the tools he inherited from his father. He built an electric organ, a camper, and even a glockenspiel. He loved to build things out of wood: furniture, plant stands, and anything else Fran wanted.

Music was a lifelong passion. He loved to sing, play the harmonica, and guitar. He kept a vast library of music which he enjoyed sharing and listening to every day. He will always be remembered by his family for the song, "You Are My Sunshine". Jim had a great sense of humor; nearly 94 years of laughing, learning and teaching. A life well lived.
