James H. Hoover

James H. Hoover, 79, of Mechanicsburg passed away Sunday, Nov. 18 at the Hershey Medical Center. He was born September 15, 1933 in Lemoyne, PA to the late Authur E. & Alice R. Walls Hoover.
Jim retired from Giant Food Stores with 33 years as a manager; he was also a former employee of the Keebler Biscuit Co, and an auto driver for Harrisburg Auto Auctions. James was a member of the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. A past commander of the VFW # 6704, and a past commander of Cumberland County VFW, he was also a member of the American Legion Post #109, the Mechanicsburg Club, the West Shore BPOE Lodge # 2257, the Eureka Lodge # 302 F&AM and the Harrisburg Consistory. Jim was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy A. Long Hoover and two daughters, Cindy Lou (David) Kern of Mechanicsburg and Linda Diane (Robert) Baldwin of Harrisburg. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Robert Kern & Thomas Johnson; two great grandchildren, Jayden Kern and Nevaeh Johnson; his sister, Joyce Wagner of Carlisle; and two brothers, Jay E. (Joyce) Hoover of Dillsburg and John J, (Sally) Hoover of Vermont.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, November 23 at 11:00 AM in Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, 5000 Simpson Ferry Rd., Mechanicsburg, with Rev. Dr. S. David Simon and Rev. Jay House officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. A viewing will be held prior to the services from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the church. A luncheon for relatives and friends will follow the memorial service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the church choir or to the building fund at his church.
