James Housel Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 5, 2024.
James Louis Housel peacefully passed away at his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the age of 69. He was born in Trenton, New Jersey on August 30, 1955 and passed away on October 15, 2024. He considered Eureka, California as his hometown and was well known by long time residents. James was fondly given the nickname "Bo Bo" by those who personally knew him.

As a child, James would help his family by earning a little extra money mowing lawns and picking / selling blackberries to neighbors. Occasionally he would wake up early in the morning to get free day-old donuts for his siblings from the local donut store. As an adult, even though he did not have much, he would freely give to friends in need. All who had the privilege of knowing him will remember his kind spirit. James enjoyed picking sports teams with his friend Matt, bowling, arcade games and playing a game of pool. He also enjoyed spending time with his close friend Shirley who resided in the same apartment complex.

James is survived by his sisters, Melissa (John) Eliason of White Salmon, Oregon; and Lorry (John) Tranchida of Albuquerque, New Mexico; nieces and nephews, Susan Eliason of Goldendale, Washington; Pamela Eliason of Hood River, Oregon; Timothy Eliason of Seattle, Washington; David James Eliason (namesake) of White Salmon, Washington; and John Tranchida Jr of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

James was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Housel-Hussey; father, Louis Housel; sister Diana Bovencamp; and nephew John Eliason.

No services will be held, ashes were spread in the Cibola National Forest near Albuquerque, New Mexico on October 30, 2024. A memorial slideshow may be viewed online at https://youtu.be/2Pc8uOsMkEQ or by typing "James Housel" in youtube search box.
