James "Jamie" Hunter

James "Jamie" Colbath Hunter of Charlottesville, Virginia, died on February 10, 2023.

Jamie graduated from St Annes-Belfield where he was a three-sport standout. He earned his bachelor of arts from the University of Virginia in 1986. While at UVa, Jamie was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and the Eli Banana Ribbon Society. Many summers during high school and college were spent working various jobs at his beloved Chalfonte hotel in Cape May, New Jersey. After graduating from UVa, he began his career in the home building industry as a supervisor for NVR Homes. Subsequently, he became a successful mortgage originator for CTX Mortgage and later managed the CTX office in Huntsville, Alabama. Jamie's love of music and entrepreneurial spirit spurred his involvement with the Crossroads Music Hall which he purchased in 2003. Four years later, Jamie developed and re-opened the Crossroads as the premier live music club in downtown Huntsville. The Crossroads hosted such notable acts as Donna the Buffalo, Drive by Truckers, and Alabama Shakes. Jamie also had an unmatched zest for life. A passionate and empathetic person, he engaged all he met in frequent discussions of music, sports, movies, current events, and World War II history. He spent his later years in Charlottesville to be close to family, and the many friends he accumulated over the years.

He is survived by his mother, Mary-Scott Kaiser; his sister, Mary-Scott Hunter; his aunt and her son, Campbell Kaiser, and Peter Hull; and his stepfamily the Marston/Blows.

A memorial service is planned for a later date.
