James Donovan Jecks

JECKS _ James Donovan passed away quietly Saturday afternoon October 21, 2006 at Purdy Pavilion on the UBC campus after a long and remarkably dignified struggle with Parkinson's disease. He is truly well and lovingly remembered by his three sons, James (Trish), Robert (Roxanne) and William (Susan) and his only daughter Susan Gallagher (Tony), his six grandchildren Ryan, Mark, Paul, Caleigh, Connor and Parker and his sister Eva Richardson of Nanaimo. Jim was born on December 24, 1925 in Lethbridge, Alta and grew up in Banff. He entered the Army during the second world war and met his wife Alma Marjorie Nelson while they both served. They were married in Trail in 1946 and moved to Rossland, B.C. where Jim began a long career with Cominco. He studied while he worked to become a accountant and the couple made stops in Yellowknife and Montreal before coming to Vancouver in 1970. The couple spent 47 years together before Alma predeceased Jim in 1994. The family wishes to salute and thank the staff at Purdy for the extraordinary care rendered Jim over the past three and one-half years. There will be no funeral by request but donations to the Parkinsons Society of British Columbia would be greatly appreciated.
