James (Jim) Cole Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 12, 2024.
James (Jim) Michael Cole, 77, of Hillsdale, Michigan, went to be with our Lord Jesus on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at his home surrounded by family after a short stay on hospice. He was born on July 12, 1946, in Hillsdale, to Clarence Cole and Jennie (Crall) Frazier.

Jim was a humble man of immovable faith and attended City Church of Hillsdale. He loved the Lord with all of his heart and soul and never wavered in his faith. He was a true testament to his family and friends.

Jim was steadfast in his great love and commitment to his family. He was extremely proud of his large family. He is survived by his loving wife, Chris (Cook). They were married on February 16, 1979 and recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. He is also survived by his son James (Lindy) Cole, Jr, his daughter Kristal (Larry) Johnson, his daughter Robin (Ray) Sanchez, his daughter Jennifer (Jay) Davison, his 26 grandchildren, and his 38 great-grandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by his honorary family members Jim (Karen) Crist. Jim and Jim had an unwaivering friendship for 73 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, four siblings, and a granddaughter.

Jim graduated from Litchfield High School in 1964. He also attended Jackson Community College. Jim was a hard working man, devoted to providing a good life for his family. He worked as a supervisor at Hillsdale Tool for over 30 years before his retirement.

Jim was an avid sports fan. He especially loved his Detroit Lions. He was also passionate about gardening and was the go-to-guy when you needed advice. He loved to bowl and had an impressive coin and knife collection. He loved his dogs and walked them daily. He became known as Mr. Rogers of his neighborhood.

Jim was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and so much more to so many people. He will be greatly missed. The memory of his love for his family, his faith, and his many passions will forever live on in the hearts of everyone who loved him.

A Detroit Lion's themed Celebration of Life will be held at Hillsdale City Church, 322 Hillsdale St, Hillsdale, MI on Tuesday, May 21st. Visitation will be from 11am-12pm with a service held immediately following at 12pm. Per his wishes, Jim has been cremated.

Jim was my Supervisor and then coworker at Industrial Dr. Plt (HT), I considered Jim a friend and brother in Christ. I will never forget the group trip we took to Promise Keepers in D.C.
back in the 90’s.
