Mr. James “Jim” Norfleet Hinkle of Welcome went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Hinkle Hospice House in Davidson County.
A celebration and memorial service of his life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, September 19, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Welcome. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be at 1:00 P.M. at the church on Monday, September 19, 2022 prior to the service.
Jim was born on January 7, 1935 in Davidson County, the son of the late Norfleet Hinkle and Lottie Tarlton Hinkle. He was a skilled brick mason and a retired employee of Pyramid Construction. Jim was a member of the First Baptist Church of Welcome where he had been a member since 1972. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Betty Scott Hinkle, and sisters, Helen Brinkley, Mary Foster and Alice Thomason all of Lexington.
In his early years, Jim loved water skiing and he and Betty spent many years at High Rock Lake with family. He loved meeting his friends at the local McDonald’s for coffee and conversation. He loved watching old westerns on T.V. and his Ford Truck.
Jim loved his family and leaves behind many precious memories to his daughter Lisa Smith, (Danny); granddaughter Brooke Motsinger (Chad); grandson Jordan Smith; great-grand children, Sy Motsinger, Harrison Motsinger, Alexandria Motsinger and Tatum Waggoner.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude and thanks to Susan Isom, his caregiver, for her exceptional love and care as well as the Hinkle Hospice House for their outstanding service and devotion.
Flowers are welcome. Memorials may be made in Jim’s memory to Hinkle Hospice House, 202 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292
Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of his service.

So very sorry to hear about Jim passing away. I remember Jim very well when I lived in the community as we were friends with his daughter Lisa and her husband Danny. Jim was always a pleasure to be around. very nice person and well respected in the Welcome Community. I am sure he is enjoying eternity with his lovely wife Betty.
