I knew Jim for four years as Buzzard B-2 Buddies at A&M; was blessed to be stationed with at Ft Monmouth, NJ, was there when Jimmy was born, and he and Babs welcomed my new bride and I after our wedding; during my travels with the Army I got to visit Jim in Atlanta and Houston; did not see him again until May 2019 at the first mini reunion which he started, there I got to meet Joy and that´s just what she is "a Joy"; she and Jim invited me to spend three lovely days with them in Sedona, AZ, and what wonderful days they were, treasured memories; then after all his health problems he was able to come to the reunion in Texas last year, we were all so glad he came because it turned out that was the last time I would see him. I have just covered 65 years of my life and some of my times with Jim. From 1959 to 2023 my memory of James Edwin Nelson will be he was basically the same extremely intelligent, a fun person, a great friend and I am so proud he was a Buzzard Brother to the end. God bless you for being in my life. And God bless Joy and all the family today and always.

Jim was my brother-in-law and always signed his mail to me as "your BIL". My foremost remembrance is his sweet smile and twinkling blue eyes. He was so in love with Joy and demonstrated it every day of their marriage. Deepest condolences to his wonderful children and their offspring.

I was fortunate to know Jim the last 8 years of his life after he married my sister. He was such a gentleman and so much fun. We traveled together as couples with our other sister and have such great stories to tell from our adventures. Jim was a man of great character and we miss him so much. And oh how he loved our sister Joy and his six children and their spouses and offspring! Marilyn Jones - class of `68.

When we were about 3 & 4 years old, he would fall and start crying and tell his Mother, my Aunt, I had pushed him when I was no where near him! He always made everyone laugh and could tell interesting stories, both about his work and our big family! He was more a brother to me than a cousin! He will be so missed!

Jim was the epitome of genuine kindness and compassion. He was well respected as a Faithful Man of God. We remember him always signing "In His Love and mine". He will always be remembered and highly appreciated for his Christian works.
