James Curtis Jones

James Curtis Jones was born on August 6,1990 to Gwendolyn L. Jones and James Parker in Newport News, VA. James was taken too soon from his family and loved ones on December 7, 2022.  James was affectionately known as Jay.  He was a spoiled grandma's boy. He was always into something! He was definitely full of energy, life, and excitement.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Sara Mae Freeman and Paternal grandmother Carolyn Parker; three uncles Charles Parker, Leonard Jones, and Clifton Jones; and one aunt Joyce Parker. 

He leaves to cherish his memory James Curtis Jones, Jr. and Isabella Jones; father James (Lavonda) Parker; siblings Timeka Parker. Shemica Parker, JaToya Jones, Desiree Jones, and Deja Jones; seven nieces and seven nephews; his grandfather Curtis Bass; one uncle Sean (LaTarsha) Parker; one aunt Tonya Futrell; four cousins that were like sisters Lyniqua Futrell, Ashley Jones, Lakema Jones, and Shakiyla Jones; and a host of cousins and loved ones. Services will be held Friday, December 16, 2022 @ 12 noon at Church of Jesus 630 Anderson Lane Hampton, VA 23661.  

St. John 14:1-4

Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. Worship is a repeated characteristic of this family (see also 1 Samuel 1:3, 19, 28). Even in difficult situations, they could worship the LORD. Praising God on the day you give your little son away may not be easy, but it is praise God is pleased with, even as we are told to bring a sacrifice of praise to God (Hebrews 13:15).
