I'm so sorry to learn Jim passed seven years ago. I met him and his lovely family when I was a child in Israel, while my father was comissioned as a Chilean army officer for the UN, just like him. Me and my family became close friends to Jim, Selinda, Sandy and Jimmy, and after all this time (44 years, nothing less) we have never forgotten them all. My thoughts are with him and his family.
Rest in peace and my love to Selinda, Sandy and Jimmy.

Jim was my class Commander in the Q Course and I the class Field First. He offered his friendship, guidance and the wisdom of a true mentor and Brother. I knew him to have the abilities to make others want to be better and to excel. Sadly over the years we lost track of each other but the memories of having served with him crossed my thoughts many times. Thinking of him I reached out only to be saddened in learning of his passing. Rest well Brother.

I want to offer my condolences to Sandy and all of Jims family. I had the opportunity to visit Jim in 94 for a week. He taught me about my family's history and showed me what life in Surry was all about. It was one of the most memorable times in my life and I'm very thankful he opened his life and home to me. God Bless Jim and his family.

I have known Jim for a life time. We are both White Marsh Rd children. Although we grew up during a period of segregation, he treated me with dignity. I am proud to have known him.

Having married John Judkins, Jr. in 1983, I met Jim at a family reunion, and was impressed by his quiet, friendly demeanor. It was obvious, right from that first meeting, that here was a man who was honorable, generous, well-loved, and a true patriot. My condolences to Sandy, J.C., Teresa, and family. Jim will be sorely missed.

Judd was one of the truly quiet professionals, who has done more in his 72 years than most do and hopefully someday the classification restrictions will be lifted so all know what a hero lived among them. Blue sky old friend and the drop zone is always open where you are now.

Jim was an exemplary man who loved his family, friends, community, and country. Some of my most fond memories is being a teenager and "growing up on the farm". He was a mentor, a friend, a role model, and extended family.
Sandy, JC, and Teresa- My deepest condolences go out to you all for the loss of such a wonderful man. May all the fond memories and fun times heal your hearts during this time. He will be greatly missed.

With Jim's passing Surry County lost a great citizen, America lost a great patriot, and I lost a great friend. I don't remember a time when I did not know Jim. Jim recruited me into the Boy Scouts when I was about 11 years old. The oath, On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country defined his life and I am blessed to have known him and that he was my friend.
He inspired me.... a example to live up too!

Jim was a positive person too so many people in our community, including his family and his extended family of friends.
He was a strong advocate for doing the right thing to ensure all people were treated fairly and did his best to encourage me during various life challenges too. When something affected a family member or our community, Jim was there or was on the phone checking on the issues at hand!
He encourage voter registration and voter participation to ensure our local, state and national elected officials could do what was good.
He was a true Southerner and a true Virginia Gentleman too.
A one-of-a-kind person you could depend on, who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.
To Sandy, JC and Teresa... our hearts and prayers go out to the family for internal peace and comfort in the coming days and weeks ahead. You should remain proud and honored to have had a father/partner who is well respected and loved by so many. And too, for his demonstrated leadership, mentoring and his influence over local community citizens and Surry County needs.
We all shall miss him greatly!

I remember when our elementary class at Surry Elementary Public Schools went to tour your dairy farm in the third grade I think it was. You and you father were so wonderful, even letting,us climb up in the loft, thrilling each little girl you lifted.
What a sad loss to the community, and how much you freely gave in service.
In respect,

Rest in peace my friend! I'm in shock. I was sure we had at least 30 more years of spitfire to go. I loved working in the trenches with you on smaller battlefields here at home. You are loved and will be sorely missed.

On behalf of my mother, Delilah Doggett, and myself, our deepest sympathies and condolences are extended to the family and friends of Jim Clark Judkins.
Jim was a lifelong close friend and school classmate of my oldest sister, Sandra D. Crocker.
Our families shared many good times visiting back and forth over the years.
Jim's dedicated service to Surry County, the Commonwealth of Virginia and the United States in various capacities in and out of the military was exemplary and much appreciated.
Jim will always be remembered as a loyal son of Surry and as one of the boys of Bacon's Castle.
E. Henry Dogget, III
