James A. Kellogg

James A. Kellogg (Jim), 76, of North Brookfield N.Y., passed away at home on October 11, 2024. Born in Utica, N.Y. in 1948, the son of Albert (Red) and Doris Kellogg, Jim spent his youth and teenage years enjoying the opportunities that the small town of Waterville, NY offered. He was a 1966 graduate of Waterville Central School. After high school, Jim proudly served active duty in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman during the Vietnam Era, and later in the U.S. Naval Reserves as well. Jim moved to his lifetime home just outside of North Brookfield in 1976, where he happily lived for the remainder of his life.

Jim enjoyed his time in the work world delivering oil for Cherry Valley Oil before taking a job with G&L Packing. He later decided to try his hand in the trades, where he began a career as a carpenter. He soon became a successful and sought after self-employed general contractor, working primarily in the local area. Unfortunately, Jim was forced into early retirement due to medical complications.

Jim was predeceased by two sisters and brothers-in-law David Crandall and Darrell Case. He leaves behind his high school girlfriend and wife of 57 years Jeanne Kellogg, son Jay and his wife Rachel, grandsons Mike, Tyler and Tucker, a granddaughters Kathryn, and great grandchildren Wesley James and Raegan. Jim also leaves behind a much-loved group of nieces, nephews and their parents, as well as a host of valued friends, all of whom he will miss very much.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family, but a festive gathering will be held in Jim's honor to swap stories, share memories and to celebrate his love for his friends, family and home sometime down the line. Stay tuned.
