James Klein Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 8, 2023.
James (Jim) Tackett Klein, of Alton, Iowa, died peacefully on Sunday, December 25, 2022 at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; his children Barbara (Roy) and James Robert, both from his previous marriage to Barbara Calsbeek; Ginesa (Brad), from his marriage to Gloria Socorro; as well as his three beloved grandchildren, Carina, Isabella, and Joseph. Following graduation from Buena Vista College, Jim was drafted and served his country in the US Army in the Corps of Engineers, foregoing his acceptance into the University of Iowa Law Program. After discharge, he then served two terms for Worth and Winnebago Counties in the Iowa House of Representatives until 1971. He then transferred to the Iowa Employment Commission, eventually ending up at the US Department of Labor. Following a traumatic accident in 1980, Jim left the government and continued to serve as he could with local groups, including his local church and Meals on Wheels organization. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. In his later years, Jim was devoted to helping his neighbors and playing the violin with the Oklahoma Symphony Orchestra. He is preceded in his death by his father Edsko, mother Myrtle, and brother Jerry. Memorial services to follow at a later date in Oklahoma City.

My deepest condolences to Ginessa and her family. I am reminded of this saying: "Service, and kindness, to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth." Your father's room on this earth was paid up for millenniums. Inspiring, loving man. And the acorn does not fall far from the tree. God bless.
