James Kloosterman

Kloosterman, James On December 22, 2022, James (Jim) Junior Kloosterman (80) went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was born on December 31st, 1941 to the late John and Grace (Boholt) Kloosterman. He was preceded in death by his brothers Richard, Garrett, Hank, John, and Martin. He is survived by brothers, Walter and Robert, sisters Katherine (Redeker) and Hennrietta (Amey), and numerous nieces and nephews. He married his high school sweetheart, June (Morgan) in July 1961, who went to be with her Lord on January 6, 1976. They are loved and survived by their children Patricia (Mike) Tyler, Brenda (Steve) Yonke, Rebecca (Tom) Cook, and Daniel (Jenni) Kloosterman. Grandchildren: Bryan Tyler (Tavane Rapp), Kenneth (Sarah) Tyler, Scott (Casie) Tyler, Brandon (Kaitlyn) Yonke, Jacob Yonke, Alicia (Joe) Carney, Christian (Rebekah) Cook, Natalie Cook, Ethan Kloosterman and Emma Kloosterman and Great-GrandChildren: (Brooklynn, Darren), Raylan, Lillian, Jemma, Jameson, Andrew, and Emery. He was a lifelong member of Grace Christian Reformed Church. He served as a Deacon and an Elder for many years. He taught Sunday School and Catechism classes. He mentored teenagers, served on many committees, and participated in Bible Study programs. He enjoyed speaking at Park Village Pines. He loved his church and its members. During his life, he worked at Amtower Corp. making back braces and leg braces for over 40 years. He loved sports. He golfed, bowled, and played softball. He also helped his daughter manage/coach a softball team to win a championship in the community. He was an avid gardener specializing in growing beans and tomatoes. He loved the fall, when he would pick apples and make applesauce and apple crisp for Sunday dinners. He was a thinker and problem solver, which is evidenced by his many inventions which include but not limited to: mailbox gadget to let you know that you have mail without walking down to the mailbox, ball (Softball, tennis balls) picker-uppers, special shovels to clear snow off the driveway and roof, a device to help get eye drops in the eyes the first time, a gadget to anchor the boat on a gravel bar, and so many others. He loved camping and in retirement years he got to do some traveling in and outside the United States. The highlights of his travels would include 2 mission trips, which included bringing Bibles and gifts to believers in China and serving orphans in Africa. Also during his retirement, He volunteered for Second Impressions which supports the Kalamazoo Christian Schools. He was a gentle, sweet man, who will be remembered most for the love he showed for his Lord and Savior, his family, and friends. He was a witness and a walking testimony of his faith in Jesus. He loved to talk and teach others about Christ's saving love and would love for others to come to know and accept Christ's love and saving grace. He spent much of his time reading, studying, and highlighting the Bible. That prompted him to write down his thoughts to share with family and friends. He loved and was comforted by the Heidelberg Catechism's first question and answer: What is your only comfort in life and death? That I am not my own but belong with body and soul, both in life and in death, to my faithful Saviour Jesus Christ. James was loved by so many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Friday December 30, Family and Friends are invited to visit at Langeland Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 622 S Burdick St, Kalamazoo, MI 49007 from 9:00-9:30 AM for Visitation and at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South, 3941 S Westnedge Ave, for a Graveside Service at 10:00 AM. On Saturday, December 31 Family and Friends are invited to meet at Grace Christian Reformed Church on Whites Rd: Visitation at 10, Service at 11, and Luncheon at 12.
