JAMES KONTUL Obituary
Age 69, of Duquesne, formerly of Munhall, passed away on January 11, 2019. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Jennifer (Donald) Wieczenski; grandchildren, Lauren, Morgan, and Christian Wieczenski; girlfriend, Deborah Debellis; and many friends and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Dorothy Kontul. A Memorial Visitation will be held Monday, January 21, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 301 Curry Hollow Rd., Pleasant Hills, 15236. A Memorial Service will follow in the funeral home chapel. Condolences may be left at

Jim Kontul was a close pal of mine at St. Theresa's Parish School. He was very athletic. Our gang would play "murder ball" on an expanse of lawn on Summerfield drive in our neighborhood. Jimmie could keep the ball away from us for a long time. Jimmy would "smear" me when I had the ball. I may still have bruises. I was not so close to him at Bishop Boyle High School, but I still considered him a friend.
Jim and I lost contact. I saw him at the 50th Bishop Boyle reunion and shared a drink with him at the bar. When I asked how his life had turned out, he said, "Very well". He looked great, just like this posted photo of him. I will offer a prayer for the repose of his soul. Simon Kovalik MD
