I just learned about Jim's passing. I'm happy to say I knew Jim. He worked at my company Caton Connector Corp in the Engineering Dept and made many contributions that are still used today. I often ran into Jim at the Hingham dump and we shared a nice catch-up chat.
My deepest sympathy to his family and I know the memories will never pass. Memory Eternal!

Jimmy & I met in our neighborhood when we were 4 or 5 years old. We spent so much time together growing up that many people thought we were brothers. We played, worked and explored life together, always sharing life´s trials and tribulations.
We supported each other´s interests and learned from our experiences. Sometimes our ideas diverged but through discussion we would reach a consensus and agreement on how to proceed.
We both had poor eyesight so we learned about life, not from reading books, but from engaging in activities and examination of the physical world around us. We built lots of things from soapboxes to walking talkies to boats, sometimes by refurbishing old junk ones and other times new creations from the ground up. What interesting times we had and what fun it was too!
As we became adults, we each got married became wrapped up in our individual family lives, Jimmy in Massachusetts and me back in Maine. Even though we drifted apart, we always knew that we were there for each if the need ever arose. It wasn´t until I reached retirement age that I knew I needed to reconnect with my friend, and I´m so glad that I did! Jimmy was the same wonderfully interesting person that I grew up with and still so easy to get along with.
I hope there is an afterlife and we get to reconnect and continue our explorations.

Jimmy is my brother. He is 3 years older and wherever he was going I wanted to go too. Guaranteed that whatever he was doing would be fun exciting sometimes dangerous but full of laughter

Yup, grew up on Lindale Avenue, I remember Dickie, Jimmy and Linda as well as B/S rug cleaning service. Jimmy had a Rambler with baby moon hubcaps. The Lacroix family was always nice to us, Mrs Lacroix had a beauty parlor attached to the house. Great people, sorry to hear about Jimmy's passing... I will find him in the wind when I ride one of my motorcycles, I will say a little prayer that way... Guy Gosselin

Although we knew each other for a dozen years Jim came to calling me his "his new best friend " , a designation I shall always treasure!

Jim was my first boss out of Northeastern at Teredyne. I hooked up again with Jim at Doble and yet again at Static Clean. Always enjoyed working for him or with him. He has always been a good friend. I will miss our conversations.

Noticed a vehicle engine hoisted up by chains in Jim's garage. He was refurbishing and making changes to his truck including the carburetor. The open hood revealed a maze of wires going every which way where the engine had been. He knew what he was doing, and I was mesmerized. A few days later, after the job was finished, engine remounted, all wires taped accordingly, he pointed to a tiny spring and one little screw on his bench. Those are the only parts left over, he said. Don't remember where they went but I don't think I need them anyway!

Worked with Jim at Teradyne in the 80´s then he hired me at Doble in the early 90´s. That was so pivotal in my career, I could never thank Jim enough. Doug Wood

I loved having Jim as my neighbor for 14 years. We would chat on a weekly basis mostly when he was outside working in his yard or washing his bike. He loved playing with our dog Rally! He´d always tell me fun stories about his life, his band, his travels, whatever - we´d talk about anything. He was always there if we needed help with anything. I will miss him so much!

I started at Teradyne in 1984 as a Manufacturing Engineer when I was just about to turn 22. So naïve. Now, almost 40 years later I still say that Jim was the best boss I ever had. I learned so much that I have continually used through my life. Here is one of the early lessons I remember. Jim decided that the wiring layout in our new tester needed to be redesigned. Jim asked me if I was free that night and could I help (he always would ask and not tell). We stayed until midnight. At the end of the night, Jim said thanks for a job well done and "I´ll see you tomorrow morning at 8". "Really", I thought. The next day was a regular day. That simple lesson taught me a lot about work ethic and doing the right thing. Now, I have four adult kids. Even though they do not directly know it, it was Jim´s work ethic was hopefully instilled in them! Rest in peace, Jim LaCroix.

Jim was my father and the coolest father anyone could hope to have. He taught me how to be resourceful, creative and that just about anything thats busted can be fixed with a little determination. Paw (as we called him) was a critical thinker who instilled in everyone he met the importance of critical thinking. Paw was an iconoclast. He was funny as hell, even in the face of overwhelming darkness we found the will to laugh. I'm going to miss being able to call him up on a whim and ask him for advice on nearly any topic and he could, on the spot surface a thoughtful, valuable & insightful response. We were lucky to have him as long as we did. I love you Paw, thanks for helping shape me into the man I am today. xoxo
