Dr. Michelle Robinson
October 11, 2024
It has been many a year since I wrote in this book, but every anniversary, and every post that gets added I read.
I share about who you were often. I am so proud to have grown up at Mt. Zion. It honestly was a blessing to be there and surrounded by so many amazing adults who loved, steward and role modeled for us. I feel I am who I am because I not only stopped by Mt. Zion, but I was raised there, under your and Mrs. Lightfoot's leadership.
I miss you and wish you, as well as my mom, were still here and could see all that I have accomplished, all the places I have been. I have gotten to do things that are far beyond what little Michelle could have envisioned was possible. Life has had its hardships, but I have been abundantly blessed and I am so grateful.
Sending love to the entire Lightfoot family, and all the children of Mt. Zion, past and present, alive and in eternity.

On behalf of the entire Bethany Baptist Church family, I offer our shared memories and condolences to Mrs. Lightfoot and the Lightfoot family. Dr. Lightfoot was my friend and a great pastoral mentor. I found him to always have a beautiful spirit and a willing and capable attitude to help in our community. He was a pastor's Pastor and was the kind of man that represented God's preachers well. His reputation in the community, both Church and secular made me proud. I want to thank the Lightfoot family for sharing Dr. Lightfoot with the rest of us, for all those years. May he rest in peace, as we look forward to seeing him again in heaven!

Dear Pastor, wow another year! This year I was baptized in the Jordan River. I shared the story of how I joined MZMBC with the minister who baptized me. The family gathered on July 24, 2013 and thanked God for His continuous blessings and loving care of our family and Mount Zion. You always loved family gatherings and orchestrated so many of them. Your legacy lives on in each and every member of the Lightfoot family. I missed sitting on your side of the bed as we laugh and talked and shared some of your "bedside snacks" after you arrived home after hours of teaching college classes or preaching. As I sat by your bedside at M.D. Anderson we talked, kissed, sang songs and prayed. I thank God for you being the BEST Dad! You shared your love, care and concern with everyone you came in contact with - not only with your family, but with other ministers, friends, neighbors, doctors, nurses, students that attended your classes at TSU, Letourneau and HCC and Mount Zion. It is no wonder that my dissertation was about mentoring college students. You demonstrated the life of a caring, concern father who encouraged and wanted only the best for his children and you encouraged all of us to do our best. You reminded us that, "Everyone is not healthy enough to sit in the front seat of your life. Move them to the balcony." In one of your many sermons you said, "You can trust God because of His promises in the past assures us of His presence now and in the future. One of your favorite scriptures that you quoted was Romans 8:28, "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good for those who are called according to his purpose."
You are forever in my heart.
Love you so much!

Granddaddy Saturday was your birthday and i could feel your presence the entire day, even while we were at your house laughing and talking about the times when you were around, to laugh, to smile, to fuss (lol), to offer words of encouragement, as well as give us the great push we need to keep moving ahead. I think back sometimes and wonder how were you able to do all that you did while you were here with you being sick, and feeling your best at times, and then i remember the scripture that you taught me as a young child, phlip. 4:13 I can do ALL THINGS through CHRIST who gives me strength! You were and still are my superhero! We miss you so much at times that we begin to cry, but we do know that on one special day just as you did we will GO HOME AND SEE YOU ONCE AGAIN! We love you!

Thank you - To The Lightfoot Family for sharing Pastor Lightfoot with Mt. Zion for 44 years and our family for 34 years. Our family has been blessed to have known such a great man of God. He touched more lives than we will ever know. It is amazing how he was so special to everyone who knew him and likewise everyone was special to him. He made you feel like you were "real" family. That is why our children and grandchildren looked upon him as a father and grandfather besides being their Pastor, Preacher, Principal and so much more. He was truly one of a kind and his shoes can never be filled. He will be greatly missed. I will always treasure the photo taken June 24, 2012 of Jada my grandaughter and Maricel his great-granddaughter which reminded me of the many times my daughter Milini and his granddaughter Chrissy hung onto him. Our loss is heaven's gain. We will all join you someday.

Our Pastor had touched so many lives, and we will truly miss him. However, we know that he is a child of God, because he never turned any of us down. He would travel hundreds of miles to make sure we were ok and had things under control. He would stay and visit with each member of the family. He did God's work ALWAYS. We are truly proud to say he was our Pastor. Even though aunt Mary and Ms. Wilson are gone, they often expressed how much they truly loved Pastor too. Know that the Lord is stating,
"Well Done My Faithful and Kind Servant."

To the Lightfoot family, Mt. Zion family, and the Mt. Zion Christian School Angels,
My 1st introduction 2 education was at the burgundy & white. At the tender age of 3, I had the great honor of being affiliated with this family; from the always beautiful & impeccably dressed Lady Lightfoot, my 4th grade teacher Mrs. Carter, Faith & Hope, on down to Felicia. Rev. Lightfoot our cheerful yet stern principal could be found anytime dropping in on our classroom activities, sitting down with us eating lunch, outside watching us play punch-a- nela (as we spelled), & most of all giving us our weekly encouragement & bible doctrine every Thursday in Chapel. He had a way of making us feel like the most important individual in his presence when he spoke. It was through his guidance that I learned independence, love for my community, integrity, & passion for learning. Rev. Lightfoot was a genuine man & had a grand capacity for love as well as a discipline that was unsurpassed. He will be greatly missed; and though I haven't seen him or the family in years, his teachings have never left me. Know that he will be loved forever & that his legacy will live on through the lives of people he touched. Rev. Lightfoot, your Alphie will carry your love & teachings, & pass it on to future generations. Family you're in my heart & prayers. May God be your comforter during your time of bereavement. Please accept my heart felt love & sympathy.

I will miss my pastor, he always encouraged me when we both were getting treatment. He would come see me even when he himself was having trouble walking, we would tell each other not to over do it and then laugh because neither one of us had any intentions of slowing down. He fulfilled his pastorial duties. God bless his family

Pastor Lightfoot was a true Legend. He will be missed in the community.
