James R. "Jim" Littlefield

Jim, every June around Father's Day I feel I should be at Oakland House teaching first aid to the staff. My family and I looked forward to this time of year for many years. Rest in Peace my friend!

I first met the Littlefield family in November 1979. My father and I along with our crew from the Bronx would spend a week at Shore Oaks every November for many years. Jim and his family, Sally ,little Sally and Tim gave me some of my greatest memories there. Jim's smile and sincere hospitality will surely be missed. I'm so sorry to hear about Jim's passing. Little did I know when Jim walked into my classroom over 25 years ago to take an ambulance attendant course, that he and I would eventually develop a very special friendship. I was privileged to have the opportunity to teach first aide to the Oakland House staff. Oakland House was a very memorable part of our children's lives while they were growing up. We enjoyed watching Jim's children grow as well.

You were determined, upbeat , and a joy to be around, even during the past 3 1/2 years during your battle with myeloma.

Jim, we will miss you dearly and wish your family peace.

My sincere sympathy to all of Jim's family and friends. I worked with him at Oakland House for ten summers, and we shared many good times together. Special condolences to Jim's siblings Nancy and John, and his children, Sally and Tim, with whom I also share warm memories.

Jim was my very first "boss". He and his mother, Katrina , interviewed me for a cabin-boy position in the spring of 1965. My first day on the job that summer, he and another worker named Bob Towle taught me how to fold the American Flag and place it in the cabinet in the main office.Over the next 20 or so years my immediate and extended family worked for Jim and his family. I learned so much about the business world and especially maintenance duties for which I became largely responsible . Oakland House holds many memories for the many guests and staff that have visited and worked over the years. Jim was a friendly and welcoming host and was never too busy to talk . Our families "grew up" together during those summers and he will be missed. Our condolences to his family.
