James Ray Lockwood, 59, of Paris, passed away peacefully at this home on Tuesday, April 28, 2020.
James Ray (J.R.) was born on September 25, 1960 in Monroe County, MO, the son of John Lockwood and Shirley Gaffaga. He is survived by his mom, Ruth Phillips; a son, Lance Ketchum, of Paris; two brothers, Brian (Roxann) Lockwood and Chris (Christy) Lockwood; five sisters; Yvonne Atteberry-Steadman, Shirla Day, Anna Tiffeny, Tonya Maylee, Charlotte Spencer, Nancy Able and Vivian Ragsdale; two grandchildren, Kylee Ketchum and Jack Wyatt Ketchum; along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandson; Axel Ketchum, his parents, grandparents, and one brother; Ronnie Burks.
James, from the time he could talk wanted to be a truck driver. He started on a farm for Archie Samford, about age 13, and went to work for Dallas Mitchell around age 16. He attended Paris High School. After high school he started driving for Jim Cullifer (Cullifer Trucking) in Shelbina, MO which also included Lanter and Dana. After Jim’s passing James went to drive for Orschlens and was awarded the Million Mile Award in 2015. He drove for them for 14 years. James also loved to race 4-wheelers and was a member of Wind Riders Bike Group out of Moberly.
On Saturday, May 2, 2020 friends may pay their respects, from their vehicles, between 1:00 and 2:00 p.m. at Cedar Grove Cemetery, which is located east of Paris on Monroe County Road 709, off of Hwy 154. At 2:00 p.m. there will be a graveside service for family.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Agnew Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Monroe County Cancer Supporters.
