In memory of
1919 - 2014

A finer doctor there never was. My Mom worked with Dr Mackell at Jefferson (she was a Jefferson RN). He took care of us 4 Tierney children and also my children for quite a few years. Yes, the memories do come flooding back to Oxford Avenue. The smell of the office, the shuffling of his feet coming toward the examining room we were in. Mickey Mouse... Donald Duck...He was a no nonsense kind of guy but when I was in Holy Redeemer with appendicitis, I saw how much he really did care. I think he even smiled that day to reassure me. He took the time to write when I wrote to him of my Mother's crossing over. My condolences to the Mackell family. He will always be remembered. Kate Tierney

Our condolences to all of you during this time. Our memories are legendary since Dr. Mackell's patients included not only my husband but our 2 sons as well. I always felt safe knowing he would see us through whatever difficulty came along.
We shall keep all of you in our thoughts and prayer.

Dear Aunt Rosemary and the Mackell Family:
I was saddened to hear of Uncle Jim's passing. Memories of him bring a smile to my face. From Mom hauling the four of us up to Oxford Circle, fishing in his little boat, Sweet Molly Malone, to breakfast a couple of years ago at the diner in Cape May Courthouse after the memorial Mass for my Mom. I regret being unable to attend the service and I will keep all of you in my prayers. Love to all.

What a wonderful doctor and spot-on diagnostician. He had to basically throw me out of his practice when I got married! If I close my eyes, I can see and even smell his waiting room in Oxford Circle, especially the pictures of his children. My profound sympathy to his family.

My children were born in the 70's. Dr. Mackell was our "no nonsense" pediatrician. God Bless him and his family for all those years of service to so many children.

I have never had a doctor who cared more in past fifty years than Dr. Mackell. From caring for me in Holy Redeemer to seeing me on a Sunday at his H. Valley home.
He was the best!!!

He was a wonderful doctor. I can remember his office in Oxford Circle, and the big treat I could get at the five and dime store after my check up. I also remember the picture he kept on the waiting room wall that was a collage of his children. So long ago, but seems like yesterday. My sympathies to the family

Excellent doctor. He cared for thousands of children in the basement office on Oxford Ave.
Nothing stood in his way of his taking care of the sick.
