James McEachin Obituary
James McEachin, an actor known for his work in 18 different "Perry Mason" TV movies and for performing opposite Clint Eastwood in four of Eastwood's movies, died January 11, 2025, at the age of 94.?
McEachin's distinguished acting career almost never came to be: As a U.S. Army soldier during the Korean War, he was caught in an ambush and left for dead. He and just one other soldier survived. Because his military records were lost, McEachin was not awarded a Purple Heart and Silver Star until 2005. After the war, he briefly wrote music with Otis Redding before turning to acting, appearing in dozens of shows and movies over his nearly 40 years of work. He is best known for appearing in a popular series of Perry Mason television movies, portraying Lt. Brock in 18 productions. He also played opposite Clint Eastwood in "Coogan's Bluff," "Play Misty for Me," "Every Which Way But Loose," and "Sudden Impact." Other work saw him appearing in dozens of popular shows throughout the 1970s, '80s, and '90s, including "All in the Family," "Columbo," "Murder, She Wrote," "Hill Street Blues," and many others.
Fan and actor Ewel Bickham said of him on Facebook, "He had so many talents unmatched by anyone. As an actor, he was in so many film and tv shows, I have so many favorites. I only wish I could've met him in person. I also am a policeman, veteran, and background actor. His life's story has always been an inspiration. Sincere Condolences to his family!"

I recently learned about the death of Mr. McEachin, and I send heartfelt condolences and sympathy to you, his family, and friends. He will be missed and cherished by all who loved him. I remember watching Mr. McEachin on several television series, and I understand he appeared in nearly 200 movies and television shows. He was a versatile, prolific actor with many skills and talents, including record producer and songwriter who worked with Otis Redding. He has also authored numerous novels and screenplays. We are thankful that Mr. James McEachin shared his remarkable skills and talents with so many people.

This is the first time my son ever met James. I met James nearly 50 years ago at the Fireside Inn on Ventura Bl after my shift at Jerry Van Dykes restaurant. I live in the Midwest and have for decades now. I have written articles for James on many occasions, looked for funding for a couple screenplays he wrote and spoke to him on average of once a month. I was so saddened by his death and offer prayers to his family and all his friends. He will be so missed.

It is with heartfelt sadness that today June 24,2025 I learned of passing of James McEachin. My condolence to his family.
I met Mr. McEachin several years ago, as you can tell I am of an age that I use mister, even though I am a Vietnam Veteran. He and I exchanged email and discussed the Pasadena Korean War Memorial.

My condolences to the family of Jim McEachin. When he & Lois lived on Gloria Ave in Encino, I worked for PIP printing around the corner. He would walk over and chat with my boss Michael Bluestein & get some printing done. They would always give each other a hard time, loved the heartfelt giggles they had together. He also gave me one of his books he wrote, which I will cherish always. RIP Jim, you, Michael & my dad ( another writer) can all chat about being in the service & about New Jersey ( Newark) miss you Big Jim.. rest easy.

I am truly heartbroken!!! to find out that my last Uncle has passed away. my heart hurts, Sending my prayers and love to everyone who knew him.
