Dear Carr and Sarah,
I was saddened to learn of you father's passing while attending a family reunion this weekend. Jim was my big brother in the Pika fraternity at Wake Forest. I was a groomsman in your parents wedding and your dad honored me as groomsman in mine as well. We all had great times during those college days. Carr, I met you when you were having lunch with your mom at Joe's Place about a year ago. Just wanted to let you know you're in my thoughts and prayers.

I was so surprised and saddened to learn of Jim's sudden death. He will be missed by so many...my memories will include waving to him on the back row at Ridge Road Baptist Church. Often he would wait on me (and others) outside the church, usually to talk Wake Forest sports and occasionally, politics. Dr. Thompson and Dr. Sherron did a great job at the funeral. My thoughts and prayers are with Jim's son and daughter and the rest of the family and his many friends.

Dear Carr and Sarah,

I just learned of your dad’s passing and would like to pass on to you and your dad’s other family and friends my deepest condolences.

As you may remember, your dad and I sat next to one another at football games for many years, and I had a chance to watch you two grow up. He was extremely – and rightfully – proud of you. While he was never improperly boastful in his praise for you, his pride and love for you was deep and sincere.

I hope you and your loved ones will let me know if I can be of help in any way.

I am very sorry to hear about Jim's death. I was a classmate at Clinton High and he was "Jimmy" to us then. For a time, we lived on the same street growing up in Clinton, Stewart Avenue. My condolences to the family.

Jim and I entered Wake Forest as freshman during the fall of 1971. I will always remember his relentless passion for Wake Forest athletics. Every opposing coach and referee knew when Jim was "in the house"! Whenever I saw him, he was never focused on himself but was always interested in what I was doing. He had a big heart and my prayers go out to his two children and the extended family. His passing is a huge loss to the Wake Forest community.

Carr & Sarah: I share with you, during this time of sorrow, my love for Jim, my fellow Demon Deacon & Pika fraternity brother. I ventured to Winston-Salem in the fall of 1973 with but a handful of contacts. I was warmly embraced by Jim and the Pika fraternity and spent 4 glorious years at Wake. Jim was always jovial, friendly and full of life. My heart goes out to you at this time. Charles "Doc" Little

I'll always remember Jimmy at the gatherings at Ma McLamb's home, laughing and having fun with all the cousins. In particular with his cousins Milton and Kevin, all three the same age. They were teased about being the Three Muskateers--always getting into some kind of adventure on the farm. Wonderful photo of my cousin Jim, happy and smiling. His smile and laughter will be missed at family gatherings. Beverly Vandevender (Richmond, VA)

Great photo of Jim. I remember during the high school years, he was always in a good mood, always looking at the good side of things. Jim, you will be truly missed.
