James McNickle

James John McNickle, a cherished resident of Vallejo, California, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2024, at Kaiser Hospital. He was born on April 23, 1926, in North Platte, Nebraska. James is an 80-year member of the Operating Engineers Union, joining the Colorado local July 1944, then the Northern California local in October 1952.

James was the beloved son of the late John and Gertrude McNickle. He was predeceased by his wife Betty (Bennett) McNickle, sisters Evelyn (McNickle) Zion and Ruth (McNickle) Seivert.

He is survived by his daughter, Debbie McNickle-Loscotoff, and her husband, Michael Loscotoff, of Fairfield, California. James also leaves behind his stepson, John Borg, of Springfield, Oregon. His legacy extends to his great-nephew, Jerry Goldsmith, and great-niece, Kathy (Dearman) and husband Terry Powell, along with numerous great-nieces and nephews across more 2 generations as well as many extended family members.

Friends and family always remember him by his quick wit, funny stories and plenty of giggles, to all who knew him. His love for animals was evident in his daily life, as he often found solace and companionship in their presence.

As we bid farewell to James, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. A private family gathering was held at Colonial Chapels, and graveside services were held at Sunrise Memorial Cemetery in Vallejo, CA.
