Although Dr. Melby was my consulting physician for only a short time, I was deeply impressed by his professionalism and touched by his humanity and compassion. My deepest condolences to the family for having lost such a fine man.

To The Melby Family,
Our son was a patient of Dr. Melby's and I just loved the quote of one of his patients that they considered him a cross between God and Santa Claus. He was more like God to us. We will never forget him. What a terrific human being he was!

Dear Aunt Mary, Christian, and Betsy,
I'm so sorry to hear about Uncle Jim. Please accept our condolences. The last time I saw Uncle Jim was at my father's funeral. I remember how Uncle Jim wanted everyone at the funeral to know what a successful and accomplished person my father was. I know how proud my father was of Jim. I remember my dad telling stories of growing up together in Duluth and when Jim was in medical school and the time he spent with my parents. It seems that my dad and Jim spoke daily after my father's retirement. I also have fond memories of my trip to Boston right out of college and late night stories from Jim about my Dad.
Even though we can't be there please know that your family is in our thought and prayers. We know how much Uncle Jim will be missed. I'm proud to have the name Jim Melby.
Love,
Jim, Kim, Michael, Tess, and Charlotte Melby

To the Melby family:
Sorry to hear about the loss of your husband and father. I use to work with Dr.Melby and enjoyed his sense of humor and his compassion for the patients. Unfortunately, I will be away and not able to express my condolences in person. Dr. Melby will be greatly missed and a terrific man like he will live on in our memories.
