Today, we will celebrate the life of Jim Mitchell, and what a life it was! It was a privilege to work with Jim at D.S. MacKenzie and Centre High. He was always there to greet us in the morning. Staff and students alike felt welcome and cared for when Jim was around. Leah and Dal will always consider him their favourite Principal. We love you, Jim!

Although Jim and Dorothy have only been our neighbours for about 6 years they became wonderful friends We will miss Jim's scottish humour and his pride in his heritage, how wonderful he looked in his kilt. He was always very happy to partake in the frequent scottish events especially by our local pipers and dancers. He is sorely missed. Ian and Koralie

The other day I asked a friend if he knew Jim Mitchell. His reply was that he had never met Jim, but knew of him, "He's a legend". Jim put so much life into his years.

He affected so many of us, he mentored so many of us, he looked after many of us.

His heart was so large. AT times, he tried to hide that fact, but, to no avail. He had a soft spot in his soul for every student he ever met in his career, in fact, he had space in his heart for every one he ever met in his life.

I am so honored to have had Jim as a friend for so many years. He truly helped me along my way.

As every one else Jim, I will miss you.

We only met Jim in 2010 but as ex British Bobbies we had a lot in common. He gave us no end of grief for being born the "wrong side" of the English/ Scottish Border. Jim (and Dorothy) always made us welcome in their home, Jim providing the entertainment with his Glaswegian wit and humour. Our thoughts are with Dorothy and Jim's family.

Sorry to hear that Jim has passed... I only knew him after much of his vigor had been sapped, but his spirit could never be diminished. Our condolence to all the family.

Sorry I didn't get to spend much time with Jim but what I remember is his great big smile. I'm sure you will all miss him very much. Try to remember the good times as you were lucky to have known him.

I remember the joy that Jim brought to my "sister", Dorothy (nee Campbell). I am sure he will be greatly missed by both family and friends. My thoughts and love go out to my birthday buddy and same birthday pal, Dorothy at this time. Con Carino,

A sad farewell to a man as colourful as the tartan he wore. Jim touched many hearts with his curmudgeonly humour, candid advice and welcoming smile. Sincere condolences to you Dorothy, and family. Barbara and Jack

I greatly appreciated Jim giving me my first teaching job in Edmonton when he was principal at DS Mackenzie JrHigh. I also greatly appreciated all the support he gave to the staff and to me in particular. I loved his sense of humour. Condolences to his family.

Jim, you were such a light in mine and so many others lives at Centre High. You huge smile, funny jokes, caring support and big bear hugs will always be remembered. Thanks for getting me and so many others out to dance and do a jig at the Robbie Burns parties. So much fun and fabulous memories. My sympathy to all of Jim's family and his dear wife, Dorothy. Goodbye Uncle Jim. You were a bit scary when I was a wee girl. As I grew up I admired and respected you. I will never forget you and will always love you. Your loving niece, Carole

I have many fond memories of Jim and the way he set a fine example for me when I was a recuit with the E.P.S. in 1958
