JAMES E. "SCOOTER"

Age 60, passed away Friday, June 29, 2012 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ypsilanti, MI. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Mitchell will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 1-8 p.m. Friday. Mr. James Mitchell was born July 2, 1951 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Arnett Mitchell Sr. and Mattie Mitchell. James was a graduate of Flint Northern High School. "Scooter" was an Auto Worker at General Motors, and retired after over 27 years of service. He resided in Ypsilanti, MI. "Scooter" enjoyed music and was an avid family man. He loved entertaining his family with his sense of humor and hearty laughter. "Scooter" was a loving son, brother, father and grandfather. He loved his family dearly. He leaves to cherish: his mother, Mattie Mitchell; companion, Barbara Mitchell, both of Ypsilanti, MI; son, Demetrius Givins; granddaughter, Nadia Givins; two sisters, Sheron Townsend of Ann Arbor, MI and Naomi Cox of Stone Mountain, GA; five brothers, Thomas (Barbara) Mitchell of Flint MI, Arnett (Montrose) Mitchell Jr. of Stone Mountain, GA, Peter Mitchell of Flint, MI, Gregory Mitchell of Ypsilanti, MI, and Carlos (Kimberly) Mitchell of Westland, MI; two uncles, Charles Irby of Mt. Morris, MI; Donald Irby of New Jersey; three aunts, Corrine Threlkeld, Oretha (Willie) Finley and Gloria Robinson, all of Flint, MI; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that are just too numerous to list. Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his daughter, Lashonda Alexander; father, Arnett Mitchell Sr.; and brother, Calvin Mitchell.
