James Morris Obituary

Morris James Howard Morris, 68, of Roanoke and formerly of Marion, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010 at his home in Roanoke. He was born in Marion to the late Carl and Lillian Lee Morris Sr. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Roanoke and retired after 32 years of service from the Roanoke City Fire Department with the rank of lieutenant. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mary Jackson Morris of Roanoke; one daughter, Tonya Morris Stump and husband, Richard, of Callaway; one brother, Carl Morris and wife, Elaine, of Marion; three special grandchildren, Arthur, Lillian Lee and Max Stump, all of Callaway; two sisters-in-law, Jane Jackson of Charlotte, N.C., and Eleanor Jackson of Raleigh, N.C.; one brother-in-law, Ralph Jackson and wife, Cathy, of Seven Mile Ford; special dog, Charmin; a very special friend, Beth Lynskey; a very special care giver, Bonita Patterson; and several nieces and nephews and many special friends and neighbors. Graveside services were conducted Monday, Sept. 13, at 11 a.m. in Round Hill Cemetery in Marion with the Rev. Dick Jones officiating and honor guard presented by the Roanoke City Fire Department. Family received friends Sunday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Flowers were appreciated or memorial donations may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 4404 Williamson Road, Roanoke, VA 24012. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.seaverbrown.com. Seaver-Brown Funeral Service and Crematory was in charge of arrangements.
