James Motsinger Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 2, 2018.
Ssgt James Ivan Motsinger , age 42, passed on October 31, 2018 In Radcliffe, KY.

James is survived by his daughters, Tatum Motsinger and Kaelynn Motsinger, of Fort Worth, Texas; his former wife Erica Motsinger, of Fort Worth, Texas, his mother and stepfather, Brenda Motsinger and Ruben N. Salazar, Jr, his father, Jerry Motsinger of Grand Prairie, Texas, his twin brother, Jeremy Motsinger and wife Kim of Frisco, Texas, his sister, Jennifer Salazar Neal and husband Brandon of New Bern, North Carolina, his grandfather JE "Dick" Alexander, his uncle James Alexander and wife Linda of Ardmore, OK, his aunts Barbara Alexander Barnard and husband Perry of Grand Prairie, Texas, Iva Motsinger Vieweger and husband John of Houston, Texas, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins in Texas, Mississippi and Oklahoma, his Army family and motorcycle club family. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Loise Marie Alexander of Grand Prairie, Texas and paternal grandparents, Ivan and Juanita Motsinger of Grand Prairie, TX.
James was born on February 18, 1976 in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Grand Prairie High School in 1995. He enlisted in the US Army in 1998 and completed basic training at Fort Sill, OK and was Honorably discharged in 2014. He proudly served in South Korea, Iraq and Afghanistan. He had a distinguished service record earning an Afghanistan Campaign Medal, 3 Campaign Stars, Iraq Campaign Medical with 2 Campaign Stars, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Badge, and Air Assault Badge. He was proud to serve his country and was an excellent soldier.
James was a great family man and a loving father. He married Erica Mumaw on October 30, 1999 in Fort Worth, Texas and the couple had 2 children together.
James was a social, active man who was deeply involved in Wounded Warriors. He enjoyed life, time with his daughter and spending time with his Army family and motorcycle club family. His family and friends will always remember him as a warm, caring, loving person, with a great sense of humor.
We will never know the extent of his service to our county or what he saw and what he did to protect our freedom. We can only pray that those demons are finally gone and he will rest in peace.
James will be interred at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas at a date and time to be announced. There will also be a memorial reception immediately following (details to follow).
All are welcome to attend and celebrate James' life. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in James' name to woundedwarriorproject.org or patriotguard.org

I remember several times throughout James life when we would have family gatherings at Granny and Pappys. There was never a lack of entertainment and James always took part in the fun. One thing that still stands out as one of my favorites was when I think a dare was made and everyone present enjoyed three full moons in the backyard. Now Im not going to say if James or his brother and maybe one of his cousins were involved but it was a fun day. Thats the James I will remember. I love you man!! Rest In Peace.

It seemed so unreal when I got the news, and I tried so hard to pretend it was unreal. You will forever be missed. Although we have lost a great Father, Son, Brother, and Friend, we have gained an Angel.
