James Myer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 8, 2025.
Lansing - James LeConte Myer (69) of Lansing, NY passed peacefully at his home on December 5, 2025 after a battle with cancer. Jim was born on October 18, 1956 to Ruth and LeConte Myer of Ovid, NY.

Jim was a 1974 graduate of South Seneca Central High School where many friends knew him as Oscar. Life long friends stayed in touch for the duration of his life. After high school Jim started his career at Cargill Salt in 1977. He began on the bagging line, then worked six years down in the mine before ending up in the maintenance department where he retired at the age of 60 after 40 years of service. Many lifelong friends were made there.

Jim was very proud of the house he built with the help of friends where he could enjoy his garden and watch the wildlife in his own backyard. Feeding & watching the birds became a hobby. Jim was a gifted musician playing the trombone in high school and piano and guitar with family and friends throughout his lifetime.

He is survived by his dear friend Molly Brown and 7 siblings; Beverly (John) Harris, Cynthia Smith, John (Darlene) Myer, Annette (Randy) McGrath, Denise (Rodney) Barber, Joseph (Greg Baker) Myer, Michael Myer, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved cat Tigger.

Arrangements were made with Central New York Cremation Services of Moravia NY.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date. If you wish to make a donation in Jim's memory - please do so at a charity of your choosing.

I am going to miss the music recording you would send. I am sure you are still playing music with the angels. We will see you again.
