James Nelson Obituary
Husband of Clara Viola Thurston Nelson, he was born in Greenville, a son of the late James Francis and Sylvia Gilliland Nelson.
He was a graduate of Parker High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was self-employed in automotive body repair.
In addition to his wife of 50 years, he is survived by two sons, Howard Nelson, of Travelers Rest, and Scott Nelson, of Belton; two daughters-in-law whom he dearly loved, Teresa Nelson, of Travelers Rest, and Debra Nelson, of Belton; and two special grandchildren, Senior Airman Jason L. Nelson and Beth Nelson, both of Travelers Rest.
He was predeceased by a brother, Furman "Jack" Nelson.
Funeral services will be today at 3 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest, with burial at Graceland Cemetery, West.
Memorials may be made to Westside Nursing Center Chapel Fund, 8 N. Texas Ave., Greenville, SC 29611.
Family members will be at Cedar Lane Assembly of God Fellowship Hall, 13 Orchid Drive, this afternoon.
