James William Nicely

James' family, I'm sorry this tribute is a bit late, but every time I think about writing it, I never know what to say. I had known James for 20 years at UVa through the time in the MICU, Nursing Supervisor and then the Bed Center. And no matter how bad the night was or how busy, he would always make me laugh. He was sooo crazy but not a mean bone in his body. I always loved running into him and hearing his take on things because he always had an interesting way of looking at life. I truly miss him and wish it could have ended differently, but I'm sure he's in a better place, cracking jokes and making everyone laugh. May his family find peace in the future and carry on his legacy of making the world a better place.

Cheers to one of the best nurses I have ever known! Your sharp wit and kind heart will always be remembered. I know you are now in your rightful place next to God. May we all emulate your best traits so that we may one day join you in paradise.

My dear James my heart will fill with joy at your memory and may your spirit soar with the angels.

I respected James and have great affection towards him. I had the privilege of working as his colleague in the bed center and in the MICU. He was definitely a standup person. I wish his family and friends peace and comfort.

Paul and I are so sadden to hear of James passing. May God shower you all with his peace and strength. We attended Covenant Church with James for awhile.

James I feel so honored to have called you my friend. I will miss that smile and those wonderful hugs. You always looked at the positive side of life. You were an amazing person. I will miss you my friend and I love you. until we meet again

James was a very special nurse. I had the opportunity of working with him for 15 months at UVA. I never saw him without a smile on his face and always knew he would juggle the admissions at night to get everyone safely into a bed. His most impressive quality was his way of lighting up a room with his charm and warm smile. I loved coming in early enough in the morning to see him and just talk on any topic. Look out for us James till we might again in a better place.

Dearest Jimmy - We love you. We'll miss you. You were always the life of the party. We will miss your humor, antics, and creativity. We will miss you. We are heartbroken but grateful for your time with us on Earth. Peace be with you. No more suffering, dear sweet brother. You've been called home. Love you always.

You taught us all so much. I will miss you James.

James and I were blessed to know you! You were an inspiration in life and your testimony will continue to be an inspiration in death.Thank you for your gentle and kind demeanor. You will be missed.

Jimmy, I'll never forget the great times we had in nursing school. I loved listening to you play the piano. You had such a sweet smile and wonderful disposition. Although we wasn't in touch often, you will always be in my heart and I know one day I'll get to see you again. Prayers for your family.

I can still hear you saying to me girl whatchu doing or calling me Korn as only you were allowed to do. You will forever be one of the brothers I never had. Until we meet again I know you will be my guardian angel and I will forever carry you in my heart.
