I remember only great things about him from Saint Edward. I was haveing trouble,as a student, and the man was very fair to me. I will nevor forget meny times wandering the halls over hearing his friendly booming voice ,or whistling one of his favorets, like Johnny Comes Marching Home.
His favoret thing to call us students,as a class and individuals is MY FRIEND.
Unfortuonetly my experience at Saint Edward was not all that good, but thank God for him as a friend to comfort me and assure me of better days to come . You will always be in my heart MY FRIEND.I can't beleve now in 2025 I am older then you were when I met u. I wish we would have stayed better in contact over the yeers. See you when it's my time to cross the golden bridge. Tommy heil Saint Edward 1985.

Mr. Nieberding was the best teacher and role model I ever had. He taught English and history an I was fortunate enough to have him as teacher for both subjects in the early 1960s (I graduated in ‘63). I think of him often and the example he set. About 10 years ago, I saw him at Church when I was visiting Cleveland. I believe he was an usher. I went up to him and told him what he meant to me. He said, “what a wonderful reunion.” Yes it was. I’m so glad I had a chance to tell him in person. I am also glad he had such a long, wonderful life. He deserved no less. His death will make me rededicate myself to being someone he would be proud of. Enjoy Heaven, Mr. Nieberding. You are the best.

Mr. Nieberding was one of the best teachers I had at any level of education. He was a great leader of men and an outstanding example to look up to. He was compassionate - always at the end of a test telling students to place a "P" or a "T" at the top of the test if they were going through personal issues or just ran out of time. I fondly remember him telling us the importance of service to our country when he helped us register for the selective service (draft) and voter registration. He told us to do our research ahead of time as we should always walk into the voting both knowing who/what we are voting for. I think about his guidance every time I vote. He made a lasting impact on me and thousands of others - for that I am grateful. He will be greatly missed.

Like a thousand other guys plus, Mr. Nieberding was my Social Studies teacher in 1965 at St Ed's. He was excellent, brought out the best in us and always wanted us to think for ourselves. Easy to respect, understated and always approachable. A wonderful man who taught us a lot more than was ever in the books . He was a success as a human being and I am thankful to have known him.

If I were describe Mr Nieberding in just one word, it would be passionate. He was probably the most memorable teacher I ever had. When he wanted to make a particular point, he would often pound the desk. In his enthusiasm he once split the desk top. In the days before air conditioning, students would occasionally begin to nod off. Heaven help you if you did that in his class. " Go soak your head boy" would be heard in his booming voice. The student would have to leave and if his head was not wet when he returned he would have to leave again. He was an exceptional teacher who will never be forgotten!

I have fond memories of Mr. Nieberding as my history teacher at St. Edward over 50 years ago. He was a remarkable person.
