James "Jim" W. Nowlin Jr., a longtime resident of Houston, TX passed away at the age of 63 on January 8, 2019 after a courageous battle with leukemia. Jim is survived by his sister Suzanne Coleman, his nephews Chris, Chad, and Clint Coleman and Tommy Nowlin. He is preceeded in death by his brother Thomas Nowlin, Brother in law Henry Paul Coleman Jr. and his parents James and Molena Nowlin.
Jim was born in Houston, TX on February 5, 1955 to a loving family. As a Tugboat Engineer, Jim traveled extensively and made many lifelong friends along the way. Jim had many interests and was a 'Jack of all Trades'. Jim had a passion for cooking like no other and spent countless hours in the kitchen. He took a great interest in fine jewelry and learned the trade as if it was his own, often doing more for others than for himself. Jim also loved to listen to live music and connected with his many friends as well as traveled as often as he could. Jim adored and doted on family including his many grandchildren he loved as his own. He will be remembered for his courage, friendship, love of food and his sense of humor. Jim was passionate about connecting with people whether it was on the phone or in person he always enjoyed the company of his friends and family.

I could always count on running into Jim at a music venue somewhere. He added to the evening always with his conversation. Our next encounter at the New Mosa Asian Bistro will have to wait. May he RIP.
