Memories of Jimspeak and the farm days
Gonna grab some two bys with the Camino
Alright, who is gonna do the first verse of the Half Moon House Blues?
Those fish heads sure make great corn fertilizer!
Hey Corn Man....can you ear me?
Who wants a beer? Great...go chop some wood and I´ll pop the tops for yuh.
Life of a painter ain´t so bad (song).
Fair to midland
Que Pasa!
Grab your guitar and Give a Hoot (song)!
I´ll be down at the river.
I met Jim in the Kensington community where we lived and shared a school bus stop in 1970-1971. I really got to know him when he showed up at a party across the street from his house with a beautiful girl in each arm (one of which contributed on this memorial). I figured he would be a good guy to know!
I am glad we shared words on his last birthday and over the years was lucky to have some great adventures with Jim and those who will join together in his honor in October.
My memory holds best our freedom days with Jim on Homeport Farm. For so many years, a place to get away from the rush, yet where it was all happening. Sail away folk singer of the ages and good friend to many!
As Chip, another good man says, see you on the other side brother!

Jim would come to over to my home in Chartwell , Severna Park to cut his hair. Apparently, I did a good job because he kept coming back. Hell, I had no idea what I was doing. But I loved spending time with Jim. He was such a gentle man. Over the top sweetest guy I´ve ever met. I lived next door to Kim and Craig Crockett where most of the guys would come hang out and play basketball. I would run into him from time to time and knew that he lived at Home Port Farm property out going over the south river bridge. I went to one of his parties out there and I was thrilled to see him. I´ve always loved him dearly. I´m so sorry to hear of his passing. Wishing his entire family my sincerest condolences. Jim will be missed by many.

With the maiden last name of Nunnally, Jim and I ALWAYS sat next to each other every time you turned around at Severna Park High School, including the day we graduated. Rest in Peace Jim! So glad he was able to attend several of our SPHS Class of 1971 Reunions!

Jim Nye was the first good friend I made when I first moved to Severna Park with my parents in 1969. Jim and I were in the 10th grade at Severna Park High School. Jim already owned his own car, a blue Chevy Corvair Convertible! We had many adventures together and tried some lets says "mood enhancers" that were not legal. But it was the peak of the Vietnam war and hippies! Wonderful good times and memories together. We hung out with another good friend, Bill Hansen, who owned a 1200cc suicide shift police Harley Davidson! The three of us triple dates with our girlfriends to the Senior Prom and went to Ocean City afterwards. After high school, Jim and his brother John and I helped rep-build an old share croppers house into a modern waterfront home that we lived in while going to college. That property is now on a public park, Homeport Farm Park. His brother John kept a home built experimental gyrocopter there. We had a goat too! So many fun parties and memories from there! Jim later went on to become a well known and excellent home designer and builder, building many homes for himself and others. I was lucky enough to stay with him at the gorgeous oceanfront home he built near Cancun Mexico in an island called Isla Mujeres. What a piece of heaven that was! We went scuba diving together there too. I will miss Jim like crazy! Until we meet to party again in the sun on the other side, rest in peace my long term brother! I miss you! <3

I first met Jim at my parents house in Monterrey, and I had the chance to have long and deep talks with him along the night over Jack Daniels and Marlboro red 100´s, a tradition we carried along the years everytime we saw each other again.
I was separated back then and he help me out sort my head back then, and many other times about so many subjects. Every time we had the chance to talk just the two of us it was a very special time for me, I had the chance to know the man, know his life and learn so much about his life experience that could and will help me during hard times in my life .
He always made me feel special , like the time he wanted to marry my aunt Gloria but everything was a secret and he wanted me there eventhough I was returning home couple of days prior to the weeding , I ended up making the arrangements to attend . Such a great man, very giving , so chill and relax all the time and he always had the right words to tell you.
One of the things that always makes me laugh is how he always referred to me as a Mafioso from Monterrey (because of a Russian mob type of winter coat I had) and how he always tried to jokingly bargain a deal between us , about anything and everything like if I spent the night at their house or if he wanted some of my Jack Daniel´s or cigarrettes or Mexican candies or if he needed a favor , we were hustling back and fort just to make each other laugh and come up with the craziest offer to negotiate.
Everytime I see a gas grill I remember him, he showed me how to make his killer shish kebab, I was lucky to have the chance to cook for him and aunt Gloria. Have drinks , laughs , tears, joy, hugs, words, silences that were never unconfortable, advices, lessons, jokes. I was just with them a month ago and he gifted me a bacon/burger smasher, now everytime I make burgers I remember him but also I see his face on the Caribbean Sea and everytime I think about a person that did everything he could and wanted , a warm, caring loving person , a person I´m proud to call family and that I will always miss, I think of him. Godspeed big man, Godspeed Tio Jim.
