James Russell Ogden (July 18, 1949 - July 2, 2025)

James was born in Johnson City, Tennesse to Rev. William Russell and Elizabeth Ruth Ogden. He was the eldest of four siblings, Joan, David and Carol.

Jim graduated from Ellet High School in 1967. He worked in the ER at Akron General Hospital where he met his future wife and mother of his 3 children, Linda Kay (Snooks) Ogden. He proceeded to pursue his dream and received his Juris Doctorate from The University of Akron. His successful career as a Prosecuting Attorney awarded him the position as Director of Community Development for the City of Cuyahoga Falls. For the remainder of his career, Jim worked as an independent attorney. He will be remembered by countless people for the fierce and yet humorous style in which he responded to their questions and defense. It is no exaggeration to say that everyone who knew Jim loved him.

James was preceded in death by "Betty" Ogden (Mother) and "Russ" Ogden (Father) and is survived by children, Brian Ogden (Rachael), Matthew Ogden, Lauren Ortopan (Brian) and his incredibly beloved grandchildren, Athena, Atlas, Artemis and Reese.

Jim was a brilliant, humorous and compassionate man who quietly and humbly touched the lives of so many. He will be greatly missed and is now at complete peace in the arms of Jesus.

A Memorial Service will be determined at a future date.

I´m so sorry to hear that he is gone. He was a very special person. I worked for him in Community Development. We touched base a couple of times on a text back and forth. I will miss him.

I met Jim in jr high. We were friends through out the years of high school. He was very clever and amusing in study hall. Later on, we had fun on FB. He usually beat me in crosswords. He is one of the most intelligent and clever people I have ever known. I don´t think he is resting in peace. I think he is rejoicing in Jesus.

It was an honor and privilege to have Jim as a friend. I can find no words that might express how I will miss our visits.

My Dad had such a big heart, an incredible memory and a desire to help those struggling or in need.

There was a point when all of us kids and our step-brother, Josh were living with him and we had so much fun. All our friends came and went and we played lots of musical cars in his driveway. Those memories are so precious to me and I wish I could relive them for a few days.

I love you, Dad. I am so happy I held your hand one last time. I know you were ready to go and be at peace. Give your parents and Joe House the biggest hugs from me. Find Tom Petty and tell him he´s the best too. LYTTMAB

I´ve known the Ogden-Ralph family my entire life, as both our parents and grandparents were such good friends over the decades. I´ve always felt like Jim and his siblings were my "cousins"...Although I had not seen Jim for many years, we renewed our friendship on Facebook some time ago, where I learned to my delight that we shared a love of classic films and enjoyed discussing them. I really miss our conversations about films, faith, family and much more. I feel blessed to have had his friendship over these past years. Sending my love to Joan, David and Carol with prayers for God´s comfort during these days. (Photo from our teenage years....)

-I knew Jimmy since the seventh grade. I always greatly admired him all through school. After graduation, everyone went their separate ways. I moved to Cuy. Falls and so did Jimmy. 17 years ago, he found me on FB and we realized we lived 2 houses away from each other. We spoke daily and shared love of old movies, music, food, religion, politics and family stories. He helped me through some very difficult days. I will miss his sage advice, encouragement, sense of humor, memories and charm. I will miss him until I see him again. I felt honored that he called me his friend. "Jester James" has left the building.

My big brother was always Big Og to me -- just as I was Little Og to him. I loved him more than

I can express. In many ways he had a difficult, challenging life. My parents, sisters and I were thrilled when he renewed his relationship with the Lord (20 or so years ago). I'm confident that he is in his eternal home with loved ones who went before him. So sorry for the negatives. So grateful for the many positives. I'll choose to hang on to the positives. Thank you, Heavenly Father!

My big brother Jim was a legend to my kids. Such a unique man. We had a funny saying in our house whenever we wanted to be mysterious, "Uncle Jim gave it to me." I´m happy to think of you now, unshackled by the burdens of this life and free to be who you really are with the saints in heaven.
