I´m remembering my cousin Jimmy on the first marker-day - anniversary - of his death on December 17, 2020.
He was my cousin and my friend -- common souls on separate journeys to the same destination through faith in God and a desire to be of service to others.
Pictured here as a young man (first on left), at a typical family gathering, we were kindred spirits, committed to integrity, transparency, and truth in relationships and in life, rather than the roles and personas that so many family members played in those days.
I only wish I could have spent more time with him in recent years, and I look forward to seeing him again when the Lord calls me home.

In every family, there are people you connect with, and those you don’t. My cousin, Jimmy and I were relatives and friends, on separate journeys to the same destination. The picture I posted shows Jimmy and me attending Bobby Auerbach’s birthday party when we were kids. That was a long time ago, and I attended Jimmy’s memorial service at the Church of the Mountain in Delaware Water Gap today, June 13, 2021, on Face Book live from my home in California. We were very different personalities Jimmy and I, but we were kindred spirits, committed to integrity, transparency, and truth in relationships and in life, rather than the roles and personas that so many family members play. Back in the early 1970s when I was working as a delivery man for Thomas’ bread company, I stopped at a school that Jimmy was teaching at, and we spent time catching-up and sharing stories of what was going on in our lives. In later years, each of us took different paths, with me moving to Colorado and then to California, and we didn’t talk as often, but we never lost touch. He had a strong faith in God, and he cashed that faith out in tangible ways, with a life of service to the poor and the needy in life. Like James 2:18 tells us, “But someone may well say, ‘You have faith, and I have works; show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.’” Jimmy demonstrated his faith in God in the life he lived, and in the people and causes that he served. I have always been proud of my cousin Jimmy – who he was, what he did, what he stood for, and how he stood for it. So, Diane, it is with my deepest condolences that I too mourn the loss of your life-long partner and friend. We have been, and will continue to be, in-touch, and my thoughts and prayers are with you today as you mourn the loss of your husband.

Lot's of fond memories growing up with my big Cousin Jim. Then the decades seemed to separate us until September 2017 when we connected and you came to visit me, my brother and my Dad on his birthday! My Dad was thrilled to see you and unfortunately he passed just two months later. Even though so much time had slipped by we shared many memories, a few beers and enjoyed each other's company.
Rest in peace Cuz.

Jim and I were colleagues many years ago in the Jersey City Public School system. He never passed my classroom before school started without stopping in to say good morning and chat for a bit. Jim was a dedicated educator who will be remembered and missed by all who knew him. A good man with a big heart.
Condolences to his family.

Diane, i will always have the fondest memories deep in my heart of Jim. He was one of my first coworkers in Jersey City and often gave me a word of advice, a helping hand and always a warm smile. People like Jim helped me get started and placed me on the right road. I was indeed lucky to have crossed paths with you both! Be strong, stay safe, love always. Pati & Jorge.

I will miss Jim's humor, enthusiasm for life and our the endless bantering behind our friendly and fun filled hockey rivalry. His dedication to outreach programs impacted so many lives positively. I will always remember his inability to pass by a child or pet without engaging them. Rest in peace Jim!
