Dear Audrey, do you still remember me? I am Helmut, we met Jim and you in 1980 in Death Valley. Then you visited Annette and me in Berlin later on. We lost contact but today I thought about you and Jim and I checked google to find you again. I am so sorry to read that Jim is gone now. My deepest condolences also from Annette! Now I am living half in Berlin and half in Bali, Indonesia.

I had the pleasure to fly with Captain Personett on the 737 as a new FO. Good man.

Although I never got the privilege to meet the other family members besides Alex and Nick Personett, I had only heard magnificent things about them. Alex has been one of my best friends throughout my college experience and has helped me with my own problems, through thick and thin. Alex Personett is one of the most selfless individuals that I have ever met. And I can't thank you enough for everything you have done for me and my family. You have great soul Alex, never let anybody say elsewise. You are beautiful, inside and out. Sending positive vibes to you and your family. The entire community is standing next to you through this dilemma. We all love you so much, and never forget that your dad has/and always will be so proud of you. May God bless you and your family during this difficult time. I'm always here for you. I love you Alex. Keep being strong.

Jim used to call me from time to time out of the blue and it was always good to talk to him. An extreme gentleman and just a nice guy. I hate to see him go at a young age but I look forward to a reunion with him at some point in the future.

Jim or "Jet" was in my B707 class in 1975 for Saudi Arabian Airlines. We endured the expat life by forming close bonds with many others. He was always warm and could be counted on to add humor whenever it was most needed. A wonderful person all around, truly missed.

Didn't know Jim personally, but he was one of us, a brother in the aviation world--God speed on your journey West, Jim and the Lord's blessings on the family.

We are just devastated to hear the news about Jim. He was a great guy and I really enjoyed flying with him. He was a Capstone neighbor also but rarely ran in to him there. We left there 3 yrs ago and we moved back to California. He left too early and I have much compassion to the family for their loss. I'm holding you all in my thoughts and prayers during this time of grief. God speed! He will be missed!

My favorite memory of Jim was in the 1980's my parents flew for their very first time to visit my sister and her family in Philadelphia. My parents and my family met Jim at Reba and Don Strickland's wedding. Jim was the pilot for my parents' flight--he went to their seats and assured them that he would take good care of them and get them to Philly safely. That personal assurance made their flight worry-free.
