James Reuben "Jimmy" Pruitt, Jr.

                Mr. James Reuben “Jimmy” Pruitt, Jr., age 62, of Silver Creek, GA, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at a local hospital.

                Mr. Pruitt was born in Rome, GA on March 11, 1960, son of the former Betty Womack and the late James Reuben “Jim” Pruitt, Sr.  He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Fred Methvin “F. M.” Massey.  Jimmy was a graduate of Pepperell High School in Lindale.  He served in the United States Navy for 8 years.  After his honorable discharge, he was employed with Georgia Tool and Equipment Rental here in Rome.  Upon receiving his POST Certification, he was employed with the Georgia Department of Corrections here in Rome, mainly working with the Rome-Floyd Recreation Authority.  Jimmy retired as Sergeant with the Berry College Police Department following 10 years of service.  He was a member of Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church.

                Survivors include his wife, Sandy Sadler Pruitt; his sons, Michael Pruitt, St. Mary’s, GA, and Matthew Pruitt (Monie), Olive Branch, MS; 4 grandchildren, Max Pruitt, Rylynn Pruitt, Emma Katherine Pruitt, and Asher Cheney Pruitt; his mother, Betty Womack Pruitt Massey, Silver Creek; a brother, Mike Pruitt (Christy), Silver Creek; nieces and nephews.

                Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 17, 2023, at 10am in Georgia National Cemetery.  The Rev. Adam Colston will officiate with the American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard presenting military honors.

                The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Saturday, February 11, 2023, from 1 until 3pm.
