James Pruitt Obituary

James M. Pruitt Sr. SUGAR GROVE, Va. James M. Pruitt Sr., age 69, passed away Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at the Johnston Memorial Hospital. He was born in Hayters Gap, Va., to the late Floyd William and Gaye Edna Anderson Pruitt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wally Neal Pruitt. Mr. Pruitt was a dairy farmer. He had a passion for taking care of his cattle. He was a loving husband. father and grandfather. Survivors Include: his wife of 49 years, Shelby Pruitt, Sugar Grove; two sons, James Marshall Pruitt Jr. and wife Ruth, Catlett, Va., Buddy Lee Pruitt, Catlett; three daughters, Shelia Shifflett Morrison and husband Larry, Marion, Va., Shelley Pruitt and fianc‚ Mick Whitt, Marion, Patricia Johnson and husband Terry, Warrington, Va.; two brothers, Floyd Roger Pruitt and wife Cathy, Elkwood, Va., Charles Pruitt and wife Ruby, Bristol Virginia; five sisters, Jane Young, Culpeper, Va., Mary Hicks, Culpeper, Wanda Smith, Manassas, Va., Myrtle Ann Dick, Manassas, Lucy Morton, Norton, Va.; 14 grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and other loving family members also survive. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, from the Bradley's Funeral Home Chapel of Marion. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 7-9 p.m. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Rich Valley, Va. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the James Pruitt Sr. Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 250, Chilhowie, VA, 24319.
