Jim worked in the Crofton mill for 10 years before entering politics in 1966 to 1972. Jim was the youngest Mayor in Canada at 32 years old. He was responsible for Teen Town, The south Cowichan Recreation Commission, and designing and building the suspension bridge at Bright Angel Park. Jim loved this little town of Duncan, this was his home and is where he will be layed to rest. Jim had the most positive outlook of any man I knew. He had a million dollar smile, a heart of gold and always helped the underdog, and never gave up on his Canucks. Duncan and North Cowichan has lost a great friend and a warrior, may his smile always shine with the sun, his blue eyes sparkle with the stars and we will always look to the heavens to remember him, I lost my best friend and lover and I hope the sun will come out again for me. I would like to thank the angels on the 3rd floor of the hospital who loved and looked after Jim.
