Such sad news -- James was such an amazing person and led an exemplary life....he has been a friend since Lida Hooe Elementaary School and, though we seldom saw each other, when we did,it was always as though we visited every day....he was one of the "good guys" and will be missed...to the family, we share your grief and hope your many happy memories will help you through this difficult time. My condolences to Mary, Tommy and the family. James was always a special cousin to me. I am sorry I will not be able to attend the services due to a business trip.

Rut was everybody's best friend...Our friendship began at Lida Hooe Elementary, 1950, then continued through Sunset High School days and way beyond...He taught me how to field a ground ball and shoot a jump shot...Oh how I wish I could hear him re-tell his version of how that big bass got away at Lake Grapevine, 1958...You'll always be admired and loved, James William...

I met Rut when we were nine years old..we rode the streetcar from the Oak Cliff YMCA together..I can still see his antics on the low board..later we played baseball for Mr. Barnett at Sunset and for Earl Hayes..even later Rut flew to Atlanta(at his expense) and got me approved for a life insurance policy when no one else could..he was the consummate gentleman, teammate and friend.

Mary, Tom and Family-
Sincere condolences of James' passing.
James was a leader in everything he was involved with from Sunset High School to TCU to his 50 years in the insurance industry.
I remember so well his guidance in the Oak Cliff Chamber and YMCA. He will be missed!
May God Bless James and the Family.
