James W. Ryan, 75, passed away at Flagler Hospital on April 7, 2013.
Jim was a father to Amy Ryan, Sean Ryan and Kerry Van Cott (deceased), and grandfather to Evan Ryan, Kate Ryan, Bridget Ryan, Ryan Van Cott and Alex Van Cott. Jim is also survived by his sister, Jane, and brother-in-law, Michael McLaughlin of St. Augustine.
Jim joined the United States Navy at age 16 and was stationed at Cecil Field. After serving his country, Jim had a successful career as a Buffalo firefighter where he was honored with several commendations for bravery in the line of duty. Jim enjoyed his Navy days in Florida so much that he chose to retire to St. Augustine 13 years ago. He was an active member of VFW Post 2391.
His remains will be inurned at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
Craig Funeral Home, Crematory Memorial Park is in charge of arrangements.

Dad was a member of the Buffalo NY Fire Department while living in Lackawanna NY he coached sports and encouraged his children to skate, fish ,hunt- the joys of l;iving in WNY..he also enjoyed many years In Medway Mass with Phyllis- his companion for 20 + years. Love You Daddy.Thanks for the cool stuff you taught me!
