SAUNDERS _ James 1936 - 2007 It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Jim at home on Tuesday, September 25, 2007, after fighting a brave battle with lung cancer, at the age of 70 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of thirty-nine years, Laurel, and daughters Lorna (Jason Kostiuk) and Candi. He is also survived by his brother Gerald and family. He was predeceased by his father James; mother Hilda; brothers Lloyd and Gordon; and sisters Colleen and Llewyn. Jim was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1936 and attended the University of Saskatchewan, graduating in 1957 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. Thereafter he began his forty-five year career in the upstream oil and gas industry in Regina as a landman, and several years later moved to Calgary, where he worked in progressively more senior management positions, leading up to his role as President at a growing mid-size oil company. He later formed his own private oil and gas company and continued to work in the business he called "challenging and rewarding" up until his passing. Jim also enjoyed tennis, golfing, and skiing very much and was an avid football fan. He was a kind and gentle man who cared about others, and as such regularly contributed generously to his favorite charities. Jim was a loving and supportive husband and father and will be greatly missed. Many thanks to the CRHA Palliative Care Team for their constant support and kindness. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (10827 - 24 Street S.W.) on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Jack Pereira, Presider.
