So back in 1980 I became best friends with a guy named Mike Scanlon at St. Agnes High School freshman year. Little did his poor family know what they got when he brought my friends and I over to his house. Jim and Laurel were the kindest and funniest parents! They put up with us "forking" their yard, crank calling their house, I think there were a couple times of toilet papering the place, showing up there uninvited and so many more instances of craziness. After Mike's passing - we continued to show up uninvited, fork their yard and at times even go over and bring pizza with when we were invited. Jim always had his rosey cheeks and would laugh about everything we did. He knew Mike made friends with trouble (in a good way), but they loved us as much -- as we loved that family. Hard to believe it is almost 8 years ago that we lost Jim. :-( Anita if you read this, I hope you are doing well. We still laugh about times with Mike and your family to this day.

Jimmy helped train me in as a Neighborhood Assistance Officer (NAO) in 2001. As an avid patroler of the Frogtown Neighborhood, he was my mentor and friend. I am so sorry that I missed the funeral. He will be in my heart and mind forever. May he watch over us in heaven, as he did every day here on earth.

I've been retired many years but I remember Jim as a dedicated Police Reservist who was always willing to give more of himself than was asked. He was a class act and I'm glad to have known him. My sympathies are with you and Jim is in our prayers.

Anita,

I am so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. Whenever I think of your Mom and Dad, it brings a smile to my face because they were such wonderful and caring parents. Mike has also had a special place in my heart as my high school years were full of laughter with our gang which included Julie, Becky and Jane. Memories really do last forever. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

To the Scanlon family, I also worked with Jim in the Reserves for many years.
Jim was very dedicated to the program,
as he was still active until his death.
I worked many details with Jim, and learned much from him. Jim was definitly a Icon in the Reserves.
Dont feel sad because of our loss, But
feel happy that now his days of missing
Laurel are over for him, as Jim is again reunited with her.
