Friday December 6, 2019 was a sad day. I lost my Dad that day, James D. Schwarzmeier, Sr.

Dad's work ethic, commitment to family, faith, respect for others, and his toughness taught me to be the husband, father, godfather, and uncle that I am today. His method was simple. He taught by example.

Dad taught me to treat and speak to others with respect. I'll never forget as a kid hearing Dad on the phone ordering parts for our cars, or calling Keystone Plumbing to ask about fittings to fix the house plumbing. He always communicated to these sales representatives with "yes ma'am/no ma'am." He was a polite man. By this example he taught me to treat others the way I wish to be treated.

As I got older Dad taught me to square off a room, level a floor, wire a box, point a chimney, change brake shoes; pour, finish and seal concrete, etc. You name the job, we probably did it together. Dad was always available via telephone to discuss projects, or to just talk about boxing.

While at a job site a few years back for work, I introduced myself to a contractor on site. He knew the last name Schwarzmeier and excitedly responded, "are you MacGyver's kid?". This response made me feel blessed that Dad was my Dad. The dad with an abundance of knowledge, the man who knew how to unconventionally solve problems.

Dad, I'm gonna miss you man. I'll miss our chats. Don't worry though, my head is high because I know you are in heaven. I'll see you there one day. Take it easy. Love, Jimmy.

Uncle Jack's 70th. Uncle Jack, Patrice, Dad and Mom.
