James M. "Bud" Severs, 82, of 2511 Venetian Way, Owensboro, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2009 at his home. He was born in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late James Owen and Mary Magdeline Hamilton Severs. He was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral and was retired from the Daviess Co. School System and farming. He enjoyed gardening, Nascar, country music, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and was a Ky. Colonel. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Corley Severs on June 28, 2002.
Surviving are his daughters, Jean "A.J." St. Pierre and husband William of Villa Hills, Ky. and Betty Addington and husband Lynn of Owensboro, four grandchildren, Matthew St. Pierre, Brian Addington and wife Melanie, Todd Addington and wife Beth, and Allison Marksberry and husband Phillip, five great grandchildren, Caitryn and Rebecca Addington, Joshua, Nathan and Nicholas Marksberry, a brother, Charles Bernard Severs of Owensboro, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, March 12 at St. Stephen Cathedral with burial following in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday and from 10:00- 12:30 P.M. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be 6:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Military honors will be provided by the V.F.W. Post 696 at the graveside.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen Cathedral, 610 Locust St., Owensboro, Ky. 42301.
