Jim was a kind, gentle man with a ready smile and a hearty laugh. He enjoyed his family and friends and he enjoyed life. He found something positive and fun in all his life experiences.

Four years ago, I saw Jim for the first time in many years. Helen told me he had Alzheimer's and might not recognize me, so don't be offended. But, he did recognize me and we had a fun visit. He proceeded to tell me, "You know, I've got that Alzheimer's. Sometimes I 'go away,' but I always come back." I was curious, so, I asked him, "Where do you go? What do you do?"

He chuckled and said he went back to his boyhood and remembered all the fun times he had with his friends and all the mischief they got into, but that they never did anything mean to hurt anybody, just to have fun. And he told me, "It seems to bother everybody else, but not me. I'm having a real fun time!" and then we laughed.

And that's how I remember Jim. Always finding the best in everything and a smile for everyone and every situation.

May your fond memories of Jim bring you comfort and peace at this time of loss and sadness.

Much sympathy and love,
Carol Kelly

May God be with you and your family during this time. I so glad he was able to be there for his birthday and for the reunion it was a wonderful time. He lived a long life and had seven great children and a wonderful wife. He is now in a better place than we can imagine. Our prayers are with you all. Love Allen & Marsha Torbett
