James Skeoch Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jun. 12 to Jun. 17, 2010.
James K. (Jim) Skeoch lost his battle with cancer on May 29, 2010. He passed away peacefully at home with his loving family at his bedside. Jim was born on March 6, 1931 in Los Angeles, where he was adopted by Walter and Emma Skeoch. Preceded in death by his parents and his brother Tom, Jim is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sally, his son James (Wendie Lewin) Skeoch, daughters Alexis Walker Skeoch, and Terri Skeoch, and grand-children Danica Skeoch, J.D., Alisha and Ericka Lewin. Jim graduated from University High School in Los Angeles, later attended Santa Monica City College and Denver University. He enlisted in the Navy and served on the USS McCord. He married Sally in 1954 and lived in Los Angeles until moving permanently to La Quinta in 1999. Jim and his brother Tom joined their father in his mining business and they later expanded into real estate development throughout Southern California. Jim and Tom also had business interests in Jackson Hole, Wyoming for many years. Jim had many friends from many walks of life. He believed in people and always saw the best in everyone. He was the kindest and most generous of men, and loved to help people. Despite the hardships he endured during his illnes, he encouraged others and never complained. He gave away hundreds of baseball caps emblazoned with the words "Cancer Sucks" to anyone he met who was affected by cancer. When you see someone wearing a "Cancer Sucks" cap, it was most likely given to them by Jim! He would love to see people continue to support www.choose hope.com by purchasing their cancer support items. The family would like to thank and acknowledge the help of Odyssey Hospice Care, Visiting Angels, and all of the friends and family who showed their love to Jim. In lieu of flowers, we request that donations be made in Jim's name to the USO at Palm Springs Airport (www.palmsprings uso.com), or to Shriners Hospitals.

Dear Jim,
Well it has been many years and I stilll miss you everyday, your love and humor were the best. I do remember all the silly fights and how they all made us even closer after they were over. We kissed and made up! You have wonderful children and they are all caring for me in their own way. Wish you were here to see our darling great-grand son. He is perfect in every way and will soon be a big brother at age two and a half.
I know that as I reach those large number birthdays it wont be long till I will be joining you in heaven, I hope you will be there to hug me, I miss that!!!
Still loving you and remember all the wonderful years. Sally

Hello Skeoch Family,
Just remembering what a classy guy Jim was! I was lucky enough to be befriended by Alex when we were in the 6th grade. She was my best, awesome friend for so many years. I'm so sad we lost touch and would love to connect again. As her friend I spent a good amount of time at your home and will never forget the kindness and generosity Jim and Sally bestowed on me. Some fond memories are when the Skeoch's treated me to restaurant dinners. I loved riding with them in their car with announcer "Gary" on a radio show and then going to amazing restaurants. They took me to a penthouse restaurant in Westwood Village that I still tell people about! It was so classy, drinks, food , and atmosphere I was never exposed to. The nicest part was their happy, comfortable family presence, Jim and Sally had a wonderful life and shared it abundantly with others. How lucky were we! Alex, I miss you please contact me. Hi Terri, miss you too!

I'm still dreaming of you and remembering the good times we had together. We have had some very special people in our lives and when ever I'm with them we all feel as though you are there.
Alex, Terri, and Jim are wonderful to me and I would be lost
without them. Danica makes me proud everyday and so do Alisha and Ericka, they are all wonderful young women, they miss you too.
I'm sorry you are missing pool time with Willie, you did teach him to swim and now I can't keep him out of the water,

I love you and miss you so much. Love, Sally

Two years today... So hard to believe it's been that long, but on the other hand sometimes it seems like forever. I miss you every day, and hope you are proud of me for the changes I've made in my life recently. I am happy, and I think that would make you happy too.

To Mr. Skeoch,
It has been decades since I saw you in person. I will always remember you sitting outside in the hot tub watching tv and looking out at the view.I was a friend of Bonnie's and remember how kind you and Mrs. Skeoch were to me for many years. I smile at the memory. Love and peace to you and your family. Julie, Bonnie's friend.

To Sally and the Skeoch family, I didn't know Jim all that well or all that long but I knew he was a sweet, dear man and I feel lucky to have known him. He said "Hello Dolly" was one of his favorite songs so I'll sing that one for him here at home in his memory. My deepest condolences to all of you. My prayers are with you.... Christiane

I will miss your "Hello Ma dear" and your crazy dance to all the songs we laughed about. I hope there are good crossword puzzles in Heaven and that you are watching over all of us.
